The following are representative, but not exclusive examples of projects which could be recipients of Riverfront Community Fund grants:
- A community newspaper or other method for increasing communication between the area’s community clubs or residents;
- Programs which address environmental issues or an appreciation of nature;
- Music concerts or a theater production;
- Community PRIDE or beautification efforts such as a mural;
- A community garden; and,
- Youth recreation programs, with attention given to transportation issues to maximize attendance.
The following are representative, but not exclusive, examples of types of organizations which could be recipients of Riverfront Community Fund grants:
- YMCA and YWCA;
- Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra and Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra;
- Louis County Heritage and Arts Center and Duluth Art Institute; and
- Louis River Watch Program.
Funding Information
Grants generally range from $300 to $1,000.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for funding, an organization must:
- be classified as a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; or classified as an organization under Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code; and
- be located in or provide service to residents within the seven counties of northeast Minnesota (Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake and St. Louis) and/or the three counties in northwest Wisconsin (Bayfield, Douglas and Ashland).
