The Open Air Beaverton Grant Program offers in-kind design services and cash matching grants to help businesses create Outdoor Service Areas. Grants are made available to properties citywide, and can be used to support the creation of Service Areas that occupy space currently dedicated to on-street public parking or private parking in a lot.
- Design Grants
- With these grants, the City of Beaverton will pay for 100% of fees to hire a city-contracted architect, landscape architect, or other designer. Through this grant, you will receive:
- Time to sit down with your assigned designer and discuss your space needs, aesthetic preference, and project timeline
- Permit-ready plans, which you may include with your Open Air Beaverton Permit application
- At least one cost estimate for construction
- Support from your designer during the permit process
- At least one revision to your plans, if required by city staff, during the permit process
- With these grants, the City of Beaverton will pay for 100% of fees to hire a city-contracted architect, landscape architect, or other designer. Through this grant, you will receive:
- Construction Grants
- Construction grants may be awarded to applicants that already have a design produced independently, or applicants that previously received an Open Air Beaverton Design Grant. Regardless, applicants must have submitted their Open Air Beaverton Permit application prior to applying for a grant. Through a Construction grant, you will receive:
- A cash matching grant of 70% of your project cost, up to $15,000 (the maximum grant)
- A dedicated Grant Manager to support you during the permit and construction process
- Construction grants may be awarded to applicants that already have a design produced independently, or applicants that previously received an Open Air Beaverton Design Grant. Regardless, applicants must have submitted their Open Air Beaverton Permit application prior to applying for a grant. Through a Construction grant, you will receive:
Eligibility Criteria
Any type of business or property owner is eligible to apply for a grant through this program other than:
- National chains (Franchises and/or for-profit corporations that are not headquartered in the State of Oregon or Washington County, except in the case where the franchisee or brand has a Beaverton-based owner and the brand has no more than one location within the Beaverton city limits at the time of project completion)
- Businesses closed to the public (For example, members-only organizations or establishments. Businesses with age restrictions, such as bars, are eligible)
- Exclusively residential properties
- Government agencies
