The Oak Spring Garden Foundation is seeking applications for its 2022 Young Artists Competition & intensive.
Donor Name: Oak Spring Garden Foundation
State: Virginia
Town: Upperville
Type of the Grant:
Deadline: 05/15/2022
Size of the Grant: $750
Details:
This is a 3-day long artist intensive for artists ages 18 – 22 who work in painting, drawing, and mixed media. Selected artists will receive room and board at the Oak Spring Garden Foundation’s estate in Upperville, Virginia, and they will receive three days of instruction and guided activities as well as a travel reimbursement of up to $750.
While on site, artists will also have independent time to work on their projects, and to be inspired by the Oak Spring landscape, including the abundance of wildlife on-site. Some of the guided activities will include a landscape tour, a tour of the formal garden, and a chance to view some of the rare books and manuscripts in OSGF’s rare book library. They hope that this opportunity will give young artists a glimpse into the experience of an ‘artist residency,’ which are an important aspect of many professional artist’s careers. The goal of this program is to encourage young artists to explore the intersection of arts and ecology.
Artists selected for this opportunity will show exceptional talent, and convey a clear interest in creating artworks featuring or about plants, landscapes, and gardens, and/or the natural world, broadly speaking. They also welcome artists creating works that address birds, insects or animals.
