This special grant program is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts to support subgranting to the nonprofit arts sector in response to and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
ARP funds do not require a cost share/match. Subgrants will assist nonprofit arts organizations with specific day-to-day organizational business expenses and operating costs to preserve jobs and maintain operations during recovery from the devastating economic and health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organizations may request $5,000 or $10,000 for each year, with a two-year commitment, ensuring sustained, multi-year general operating support.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered eligible for the AIMC NEA ARP Grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must have an arts-based mission statement
- Organization must have been incorporated by January 1, 2019
- Must have a history of providing arts programming and provide three examples from recent years
- Must have an annual budget of $500,000 or less
- Must be a Nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3), U.S. organization, based in Middlesex County and recognized by the State of New Jersey
- Must be compliant with all annual filings for nonprofit organizations
- Must self-certify in the application that they are not disbarred, suspended, or have any other exclusions or disqualifications
- Must have or obtain a Unique Entity Identifier.
- All subawards made under an NEA award are subject to the federal requirements regarding required registrations (see additional document, “Federal Regulations and Policy Requirements”)
- Facilities and programming must comply with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and as amended. Federal regulations require that all projects funded by the NEA be physically and programmatically accessible to people with disabilities.
- Previous Middlesex County grantees must be in “good standing” with the Arts Institute of Middlesex County, complying with all contractual requirements of any concurrent grant contracts
- Current grantees in the AIMC 2022 GOS, Program I, & Program II grant program (and applicants that will apply for the 2023 grant cycle), are eligible to apply for this one-time grant program
- Applicants receiving American Rescue Plan funds from other sources, including those from Middlesex County, may apply for this program ONLY for specific general operating support not already covered by other federal funds
