The Moore County Chamber in partnership with Duke Energy Foundation to support small businesses and non-profits in Moore County.
Under the Grant
the Moore County Chamber of Commerce will administer a program to provide funding between $500 and $5,000 to eligible small businesses and non-profits that operate a storefront located in Moore County.
Businesses and non-profits do not have to be a member of the Chamber to participate. Grants will be awarded through a fair and competitive process where all applicants will be given an equal opportunity to apply.
Individual grants can be used by small businesses to:
- Enhance service or commerce opportunities by modifying physical space, acquiring technology to improve online sales, or expanding the capacity for delivery of goods or services.
- Support storefront beautification projects that enhance the appearance of the business and community (i.e., new exterior paint, awnings, signage, or planters).
- Implement tools or programs to support workforce needs (i.e., working with a recruiter, paying to list job opportunities, or paying tuition for training programs).
- Support marketing and promotion of the storefront.To be eligible for funding under the program, a Moore County small business must employ less than 100 employees and have a storefront presence in the County. Non-profits that meet these requirements may also apply if they operate a storefront small business, like a resale store or a café. Government organizations and businesses that do not operate a storefront (i.e., offices) are not eligible for funding under this grant program. Ineligible expenses include payroll, incentive pay, rent, and utilities. These grant funds can be used to reimburse expenses previously incurred or projected to be expensed prior to December 31, 2023.
Allowable Uses
The Moore County Small Business and Non-Profit Grants are intended to help small businesses thrive. The following includes the allowable uses.
- Enhanced service or commerce opportunities, such as modifying physical space, technology to improve online sales or expanding capacity for delivery goods and services.
- Storefront beautification projects enhancing the appearance of the business and community, i.e., new exterior paint, awnings, signage, or planters that are compliant with the zoning regulations in which your business is located.
- Tools or programs to support the business’s workforce needs, i.e., collaborating with a recruiter, paying to list job opportunities, tuition for a training program.
- Marketing and promotion of a storefront.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualified applicants include small businesses and non-profits that have a storefront presence located in Moore County as defined below.
- Small Business – Small businesses with <100 employees with a storefront presence physically located within the geographical boundaries of Moore County.
- Non-Profit – A non-profit with <100 employees with a storefront presence located within the geographical boundaries of Moore County. (i.e., retail store, café, etc.)
