Funds are available to support the hiring of teaching artists from the Maine Arts Commission’s Creative Aging Teaching Artist Roster to work in community settings such as libraries, senior centers, arts organizations, and assisted- and independent-living centers.

Eligibility Requirements
All applicants must have an active Maine Arts Commission account and current Vendor Code to receive funding. An organization is eligible to apply only if it meets all of the following criteria at the time of application:
An organization is eligible to apply if they meet all of the following criteria:
- The applicant is a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service or is a unit of municipal, county or tribal government, legally established in the state of Maine.
- The applicant has a valid DUNS number.
- Is partnering with an artist from the Creative Aging Teaching Artist Roster.
- Is in compliance with Final Reports required by the Maine Arts Commission for previous awards.
An individual is eligible to apply if they meet all of the following criteria:
- Is listed on the Creative Aging Teaching Artist Roster.
- Is partnering with a nonprofit organization that has a valid DUNS number.
- Have resided full-time in Maine for at least one year immediately prior to the application deadline.
- Will reside full-time in Maine throughout the project period
- Are at least 18 years of age or older by the application deadline
- Are not a student enrolled in a degree or certificate-granting program.
- Is in compliance with Final Reports required by the Maine Arts Commission for previous awards.
Ineligible Expenses
Grant awards may not be re-granted nor used to cover the costs of brick-and-mortar projects, permanent or capital equipment over $4,999 in value, operating support, or fundraising.
Review Criteria
- Grant applications are reviewed on a competitive basis using the following criteria:
- Incorporation of creative aging principles of social engagement and mastery. (35%)
- Incorporation of a culminating activity. (30%)
- Engagement of older adults in sequential learning that is meaningful, creative, and of strong artistic merit. (35%)
