The Boone County Solid Waste Management District (“District”) is responsible for implementing programs to promote proper integrated solid waste management within Boone County. Elements of the various programs include:
- Waste Reduction
- Recycling
- Composting
- Resource Recovery
- Prevention of Illegal Dumping & Burning
- Proper Disposal of Household Hazardous Waste, Expired or Unwanted Medications and Non-Recyclable Solid Waste
To supplement the District’s efforts toward continued progress in meeting the objectives of the District’s programs, the District is pleased to offer an environmental grant program. The grants are intended to help conserve natural resources, decrease dependence on disposal, demonstrate the importance of sustainability, and generally promote improvements in the health and welfare of the residents of Boone County.
Funding Information
Applicants may apply for a grant of any value up to $5000 in any particular calendar year.
Eligibility Criteria
- All non-profit organizations, schools, civic organizations, clubs, and businesses operating within Boone County are eligible to apply. All applicants must have good financial, environmental, health and safety records. Applicants delinquent on District fees will not be eligible. All grant funds will be paid to the organization, not to an individual. All grant funded activities must take place within Boone County.
- Starting in 2023, local municipalities may apply for the District’s municipality specific community grant program.
