Nonprofits and community groups can receive up to $15,000 for projects and programs supporting wellbeing in Humboldt County. The Humboldt Health Foundation (HHF), an affiliate of Humboldt Area Foundation/Wild Rivers Community Foundation, has put out a request for proposals for its 2022 Community Health Grant program, which provides local nonprofits and groups with funding for work that improves residents’ and communities’ mental or physical wellbeing in Humboldt County.
Humboldt Health Foundation prioritizes funding for organizations and groups that support the health and wellbeing of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, recognizing that BIPOC have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic and that racism is a critical public health issue impacting region. They’re pleased to offer this opportunity to support racial equity and healthy community engagement. They look forward to learning about and supporting the many creative and innovative community led projects that local groups are working on towards developing healthier communities.
Community Health Grants support programs and projects that:
- Enhance the physical and mental well-being of Humboldt County residents and communities
- Improve the health of those with social or economic disadvantages, the underserved, and/or marginalized, with priority going to organizations supporting the health and wellbeing of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color
- Have potential to make significant community impact
- Are preventive
- Bring people together to work on issues of community concern
- HHF makes grants for general operating support, programs, services, advocacy, organizing, civic engagement, capital campaigns, capital improvement projects, and racial equity training and consulting.
