The City of Evanston wants to learn more about how Guaranteed Income can benefit their community members. They have partnered with researchers at Northwestern University to better understand the impact of this pilot study and people’s experiences with it. Many applicants who aren’t randomly chosen to participate in the program may be contacted by Northwestern researchers to fill out surveys and answer questions and will be compensated for their time.
Funding Information
- This year-long pilot program will offer monthly payments to Evanston households to supplement the existing social safety net.
- Once a month for a year, participants will each receive $500 loaded onto a prepaid debit card to spend as they see fit.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, participants must live in Evanston, live in a household whose income is at or below 250 percent of the Federal Poverty Line, and fit into one of the groups below:
- Adults 18-24 years old
- Adults 62 years old and older
- Undocumented community members
