Mission
To improve quality of life for the residents of metropolitan Louisville and Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes in Louisiana; to meet Present and Emerging needs of those communities through grantmaking and philanthropic leadership.
The Foundation has established a strong relationship with the Bayou Community Foundation which now serves as the channel through which the Gheens Foundation fulfills its philanthropic support in Louisiana.

Eligibility Criteria
- The Foundation will distribute approximately 5% of the average fair value of its non-charitable use assets annually to qualifying organizations located in the Metro Louisville area: Bullitt, Henry, Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Trimble counties (KY); Clark, Floyd, Harrison and Washington counties (IN); and to the Bayou Community Foundation for qualifying organizations in Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes in Louisiana.
- Organizations must be in active standing with the IRS and a verified tax number is required to access the application process. Public school districts and governmental entities should contact the Foundation office to obtain access to the portal.
- To be eligible to apply for an initial grant, the applicant’s gross unrestricted revenues per its Form 990 must have exceeded $50,000 (a) for its most recent fiscal year, or (b) an average of $50,000 for its past 3 consecutive fiscal years.
