The grant programs, designed with help by Community Capital Fund (CCF) of Kansas City, Missouri, utilized information gathered during a robust community engagement process to ensure that they were tailored to current business needs related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The grant programs are funded through the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
Grant Programs
- The Impacted Industries Fund will offer grants up to $50,000 to businesses operating in industries that experienced employee loss during the pandemic. Those industries include utilities, management of companies, information, education services, mining, quarrying, oil and gas extraction, accommodation and food services, and creative industries. To apply, businesses must have fewer than 250 full-time equivalent employees and less than $2 million of revenue.
- The Small Business Rescue Fund will offer awards of up to $50,000 to for-profit, non-profits, home-based and internet-based businesses located in Overland Park. The funds can be used for payroll, off-setting economic losses, childcare support for employees, business improvement needs, and training and hiring needs. To apply, businesses must have fewer than 250 full-time equivalent employees and less than $2 million of revenue.
- The Hotel Fund will be specifically for locally owned hotels operating in Overland Park. This fund was created after the city received feedback about the unique, ongoing challenges of the hotel industry. This fund will award up to $50,000 to offset this economic hardship.
