The Global Awareness Fund fosters projects which increase information and understanding in support of the proposition that the survival of their global community depends on the well-being of all its citizens, on mutual understanding and cooperation, and on the development of civil societies in creative and humane pursuits and in organization under law.
Global Awareness Fund concerns include:
- peace and security for nations, ethnic and social groups and individuals
- economic well-being, including problems of trade, development, and population
- justice and human rights
- environmental safety, sustainability and preservation
- citizen understanding of world cultures, political and social systems, and the need for tolerance of differing political, social and religious systems and more
Global Awareness Fund assists projects that increase community awareness of our global interdependence and promote citizen participation in global issues.”

- Grants range from $100 to $5,000.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for funding, an organization must:
- be classified as a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; or classified as an organization under Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code; and
- be located in or provide service to residents within the seven counties of northeast Minnesota (Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake and St. Louis) and/or the three counties in northwest Wisconsin (Bayfield, Douglas and Ashland)
