The City of Grover Beach recognizes that upgrading building facades and outdoor seating areas can have a positive impact on the look and feel of the City’s streetscapes and can attract more customers to local businesses. The purpose of the Grover Beach Small Business Façade Improvement Grants Program is to provide funding to Grover Beach small businesses who wish to make such improvements. The City is seeking to provide grants to small businesses in Grover Beach which were negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Funding Information
- The City has allocated $75,000 in one-time funding for the Small Business Façade Grants Program, using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
- Each eligible business may be allocated up to $10,000 of one-time grant funding, if approved by the City.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible Businesses:
- Business must be located within the limits of the City of Grover Beach.
- Business must be in good standing with the Secretary of State of California.
- The grants are intended for small business (not major retailers, chain stores, etc.).
- Applicants must demonstrate that the business or business owner was negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Eligible Projects:
- Proposed projects must be compliant with the City’s Façade Architectural Guidelines (see Exhibit A). Retroactive reimbursement for projects completed on or after July 1, 2021 will also be considered. Projects seeking retroactive reimbursement are subject to the same approval process as proposed projects.
