Type of Grant: Grant
Deadline: 04/12/2023
Details:
Montgomery, Elmore, Autauga and Macon counties have been chosen by the Emergency Food and Shelter National program (EFSP) to receive funds in the amounts listed above to assist organizations dedicated to providing food, shelter and supportive services to people with economic emergencies, including their nation’s hungry and homeless populations.
The selection for these Federal funds was made by a National Board chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), consisting of representatives from the Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Council of Jewish Federations, Catholic Charities, National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA and United Way of America, which serves as Secretary and Fiscal Agent. The Board was charged to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the country.
A Local Board made up of representatives from local government, as well as River Region United Way, Salvation Army and others will determine how the funds are to be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service organizations in the area. The Local Board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds and any additional funds available under this phase of the program.
