The mission of the Community Leaders Fund is to strengthen the community through innovative programs in the areas of human services, arts, education, the environment and community economic development.
The Community Leaders Fund encourages projects that provide strong community leadership through developing practical approaches to community problems, fostering community leadership(both professional and volunteer), increasing civic participation and community vitality, building community connections-especially between diverse groups, encouraging civil discourse about critical issues, and developing an expanding pool of talented community leaders.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for funding, an organization must:
- be classified as a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; or classified as an organization under Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code; and
- be located in or provide service to residents within the seven counties of northeast Minnesota (Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake and St. Louis) and/or the three counties in northwest Wisconsin (Bayfield, Douglas and Ashland).
