Education and Youth
The Community Foundation recognizes the importance of not only investing in youth so that every child is given the opportunity to succeed, but also providing access to educational opportunities for individuals who are seeking to invest in our local workforce, To accomplish that, they will provide support to:
- Encourage and improve literacy efforts in youth; with an emphasis on Pre-k-3rd grade.
- After-school and summer programs that seek to enrich the lives of children up to age 18, with an emphasis on those programs which promote math and science.
- Workforce development programs that train and educate individuals to meet the needs of local businesses for skilled workers.
- Provide services to individuals with special needs.
Cultural and Community Enhancement
Building a community with access to enrichment activities can lead to a better quality of life for all. The Community Foundation also recognizes the positive impact arts and culture can have on promoting a strong and healthy economy. To accomplish that, we will provide support to:
- Promote the role that arts and culture play in creating a vibrant community.
- Promote healthy lifestyles, nutrition, and improved fitness.

Eligibility Criteria
Must be located in the cities of Martinsville, Roanoke, and Salem, and the counties of Botetourt, Craig, Franklin, Henry, Patrick, and Roanoke.
