The City of Bristol recently announced an additional round of funding through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) CARES Act to support non-profit organizations to prepare for, prevent, and respond to the Coronavirus as it impacts the low- and moderate-income population of Bristol.

In response to the economic impact caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, Congress passed The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. This federal act provides funds to state, local, and tribal governments through the Coronavirus Relief Fund. A percentage of CARES Act funds were distributed to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the CDBG program.
In late 2020, the City of Bristol was awarded $382,741 in Coronavirus (CDBG-CV3) Funds that were allocated to 10 local agencies to address the pandemic. In the first round of CARES Act funding, the City of Bristol received $393,989 which was invested in the renovation of the St. Vincent De Paul Mission to expand their facilities to add more accommodations, enable social distancing, and develop plans for an overflow facility that can be activated in the event of a resurgence of Covid-19 cases among vulnerable populations.
