Candidacy of trees for the program is to be determined by, and at the full discretion of the city Forester based on a free assessment and list of qualifying factors. Following the city forester’s assessment, qualifying applicants must seek immediate tree removal, pruning, OR treatment services from a list of approved contractors. Following tree removal, pruning, OR treatment, and submittal of a receipt, grant money in the predetermined amount will be paid as a rebate (match) to the qualifying property owner. Stump removal is not included in the grant program and is a separate cost incurred by the property owner.
Funding Information
A reimbursement of 50% up to $1,500 for removal, 50% up to $1,000 for pruning (for hazard or health), OR 50% up to $250 for treatment may be given.
Eligibility Criteria
- Residential and commercial property owners may apply, although trees interfering with utilities such as power lines will not be considered (contact utility company).
- Trees and limbs recently damaged by a weather event (storm damage) will not be considered.
- Available to City of Wheat Ridge residential and commercial property owners only, one tree and type of service per property.
