The Arts, Culture, and Tourism Microgrants Program may fund publicly accessible artistic projects within the City of South Lake Tahoe, including visual, performing, and literary arts, and cultural events. The microgrant is intended to be used as seed money or combined with a larger grant or other funding; it is not intended to fully fund projects, but rather to act as a catalyst by providing multiple, small grants to the South Lake Tahoe community by investing in local arts, culture, and tourism projects.
Funding Information
Up to $15,000 in grants will be awarded for the 2023 pilot year. Awards will be announced on or by Tuesday, May 9 and funds must be expended within one year from the date of the award. Microgrants will be issued in amounts between $500-$5000. The ACT Commission reserves the right to not issue funding or to partially fund projects.
Grants are intended to provide unique opportunities for arts and culture in their community and should not be a substitute for ongoing activities from individuals or organizations. If the project is an event, it should show either a unique, one-of-a-kind nature or how a repeated event can sustain its own future funding.

- Civic Groups (e.g. Rotary, Kiwanis, etc.)
- Non-profits (must demonstrate 501c3 status)
- Public and Private School Teachers and Programs
Project Specifications & Evaluation Criteria:
- Located within the City of South Lake Tahoe city limits
- Accessible to the public and all ages; ADA accessible
- Free to the public
- Demonstrates alignment with the ACT Commission’s
- Mission, Vision, & Values
- Demonstrates Artistic Merit
- Benefits the residents and/or visitors of South Lake Tahoe
- Project is feasible as determined by clear budget, timeline, and plan for projects that are subject to permitting requirements (such as Publicly Visible Art Permit, Special Events Permit, etc.)
