The Powder Springs Small Business Grant is a business assistance program offered by the City of Powder Springs to offset the economic impact to small businesses as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The program provides grant funding of up to $5,000.00 to for-profit businesses (including home-based businesses) and 501(c)(3) organizations with less than $2 million in estimated annual gross receipts that demonstrate either 1) a financial disruption of 10 percent or more or 2) a loss of direct or contracted employees of ten percent or more by comparing the same period in 2019 to 2022.
The total funding for the program is limited to $150,000. As the City is utilizing federal funding (American Rescue Plan Act) for the grant, all operating assistance must be compliant with federal regulations. Grant funds may be used for the following:
- Marketing.
- PPE and other supplies/costs to ensure employee and customer safety.
- Lease expense or purchase of new equipment or upgrades of existing equipment.
- Bonuses targeted at rehiring and/or maintaining full time W-2 or 1099 employees.
Businesses may apply for the 2022 Powder Springs Small Business Grant program if they have received CARES Act funds from the City or through other programs. However, if awarded, recipients may not use grant funds for expenses that have already been covered through other federal, state, or local grant programs or other sources.
Eligibility Criteria
- Primary location of business must be in the city limits of Powder Springs. Franchisees are eligible if the business is wholly owned by an individual.
- Business must have been in continuous operation for a minimum of 12 months prior to March 1, 2020.
- Business must have a current business license issued by the City of Powder Springs and be current on all City taxes, permits, and fees.
- Business must not be a party in any active lawsuit with the City of Powder Springs.
- Business has estimated gross annual revenue less than $2 million for 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
- Business must show financial disruption attributable to the COVID-19 pandemic of 10 percent or greater or loss of direct or contracted employees of ten percent or more by comparing same period in 2019 to 2022.
- Ineligible entities include:
- Corporate-owned franchises.
- Government-owned entities.
- Businesses owned by elected or appointed officials of Powder Springs or Cobb County or by family of any of these officials.
- Any entity suspended or disbarred from participation in federally funded projects.
