The stabilization and growth of small businesses in Portland that have been negatively impacted by the Covid19 pandemic. City Microenterprise grants can only be used for items not already paid for by other governmental or private grants or loans. In other words, funds may not be used for costs where other assistance has already been provided for the same item/use and there is no demonstrated unmet need.
Grant Funding
New Microenterprise Grant Applicants (have never received a Microenterprise Grant)
- Maximum grant of $7,500 per microenterprise that operates out of leased commercial space (costing at least $500/month)
- Maximum grant of $3,500 per microenterprise that is home-based or leases commercial space that is less than $500/month.
Eligibility Criteria
- The grant program is open to both nonprofits and for-profit businesses in Portland.
- To be eligible, the business must have seven or fewer employees (including the owner), and the business owner(s) must be low/moderate income.
Eligible Funding Activities
Rent, utilities, inventory, equipment, insurance, payroll (not including owner) and other working capital needs.
