The City of Philadelphia has launched the 2023 Christmas Village Market grants to increase opportunities for local BIPOC vendors and emerging businesses.
Donor Name: City of Philadelphia
State: Pennsylvania
City: Philadelphia
Type of Grant: Grant
Deadline: 09/08/2023
Size of the Grant: Up to $3,000
Details:
The City of Philadelphia Commerce Department and Parks & Recreation are providing a grant opportunity to non-profit organizations that will coordinate and support 5 or more Philadelphia minority-owned vendors or emerging businesses to vend at the 2023 Christmas Village.
Additionally, grant funds up to $3,000 will be made available to support the vendors’ success through a well merchandised, fully staffed, attractive, and inventoried booth. If needed, the applicant can apply these funds by including an itemized budget request for grant resources to support their ability to merchandise, staff, and/or fit out the booth. If a project requires additional funds, related costs may also be considered for reimbursement on a case-by-case basis.
This program will prioritize organizations that will help to merchandise and sell goods from all participating vendors throughout the Christmas season. Therefore, this grant will cover rental fees, staffing, merchandising, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and other costs required to maintain inventory, space, and booth management throughout the Christmas Village. This grant will not subsidize insurance or inventory.
Eligibility Criteria
Organizations can apply based on these requirements and the ability to execute the following:
- Registered non-profit organization whose organizational mission includes supporting vendors and emerging businesses.
- Act as the primary contact between Christmas Village and vendors.

- Provide a free to low entry fee to Philadelphia-based BIPOC emerging businesses or vendors to participate in the Christmas Village Market (if any moderate fees are needed, it should be outlined in the application and approved by Commerce).
- Provide technical assistance to entrepreneurs around inventory, pricing, marketing, etc.
- Collect data from vendors throughout the Christmas Village pertaining to sale and share it with the Commerce Department.
- Prioritization will be given to applicants who can create a plan to display and sell inventory from all participating vendors for the whole of the Christmas Village season.
A for-profit organization that meets the program’s requirements can reach out to Commerce to determine if they could be a fit for the grant opportunity.
