Neighborhood Grant funding is available for residents and organizations who would like to lead an improvement project on public property or an easement within the City limits. The focus of this grant is to assist those interested in positively impacting neighborhoods through updating features, adding elements, or beautification projects.
The Neighborhood Grant Program has created a new way for civic leaders to engage with the community. In the program’s first year, long-term civic opportunities were created by community partners, including an upcoming pollinator garden at Heroes Park, a flag disposal program through the American Legion, and a universal design upgrade at Bear Creek playground. The grant has produced more robust relationships between elected officials, city staff, the community, and other agencies. This program has allowed staff to work with community members on items Meridian citizens care about in neighborhoods around the City of Meridian.
Funding Information
There is no minimum, but a maximum of $50,000 may be requested per project, and applicants may request funds for more than one project.
Eligibility Criteria
Projects funded with Neighborhood Grant funds must be located on public property located within the City of Meridian. Applicants must be residents of the City of Meridian or organizations operating within the City of Meridian. Upon selection of a project for funding, the City of Meridian will require the successful Applicant to enter into a grant recipient agreement establishing terms and conditions of the grant funds). In awarding Neighborhood Grants, the selection panel will consider the following criteria:
- Capacity for neighbor engagement in Project implementation and final deliverable.
- Contribution to improvement of neighborhood environment and sense of community.
- Suitability of proposed Project for project site.
- Long-term viability maintenance and impact of proposed Project.
