ONE Lexington has a mission “to leverage government resources and community partnerships to reduce gun violence impacting youth and young adults (ages 12-29).
The city of Lexington wants to build the capacity of community partners already working to stand up against gun violence in Lexington, Kentucky. The proposed total funding for FY 25’s grant opportunity is up to $100,000. Applications should focus on at least one of the following components of the P.I.E.R. program model:
- Prevention – To identify individuals who are most vulnerable to the cycle of gun violence and attempt to break that cycle through wrap-around services and community support.
- Intervention – To provide evidence and community-informed, comprehensive support to individuals who are already in the cycle of gun violence as victims or suspects.
- Enforcement – To develop collaborations and strengthen relationships between law enforcement and underserved communities.
- Re-entry – To support youth and young adults who are system-involved and/or are returning to society.
Funding Information
The City plans to allocate $100,000 to support the Gun Violence Prevention Grant Program, pending the approval of the Urban County Council. Grant recipients will receive up to $7,500.

July 1, 2024-June 30, 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
- Fayette County only: This grant funding is only to serve Lexington-Fayette County residents. An organization can serve other counties, but all programs or activities using these grant funds must identify a physical presence in Lexington-Fayette County with only enrollment of Lexington-Fayette youth.
- Established presence: This funding opportunity is intended to enhance and strengthen the capacity of organizations that are already operating youth gun violence reduction programs or activities, or those that are actively partnered with entities in this space. This means that your organization is already operating or directly working in partnership with organizations that focus their efforts in neighborhoods with high rates of youth violence (including, but not limited to areas such as Woodhill, Winburn, East End, Gainesway, etc.). Other youth-focused organizations working in neighborhoods or areas with high levels of youth violence are also welcome to apply.
- Number of grant applications per organization: Organizations may submit only one grant proposal. Submitting more than one application may result in disqualification for both. However, organizations can still be named as a fiscal agent in another application while submitting their own program application.
- Scoring: All applications will be scored by an impartial Review Committee; recommendations will be made to ONE Lexington.
- Past recipients: Organizations funded during previous funding rounds are welcome to apply. However, receipt of prior funding does not guarantee an award for FY25.
