As Oakland’s team, they are committed to the health, vitality, and happiness of their community. They enrich Oakland and the East Bay through sport and civic service.
In order to request support for your program or project, they kindly ask that you follow these guidelines:
- Program/project must provide resources and/or support communities in the greater Bay Area. Geographic priority to Oakland based nonprofits.
- Request must come from a charitable 501(c)(3) organization and is not a private foundation as defined in section 509(a) of that code. The organization must be in good standing with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the California Franchise Tax Board, and the California Secretary of State.
- Grants will be made only to organizations with open, non-restrictive membership that operate open to all regardless of race, creed, sex, sexual orientation, religious belief, or nationality. Nothing in the guidelines shall prohibit a program from specifying an age, sex, or physical capacity classification if it is reasonable under all the circumstances and is consistent with applicable law.
- Must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of program services and outcomes.
- Must demonstrate a strong financial position.
- Requests are limited to one (1) grant per organization per calendar year.
- Grants are typically awarded between $2,500 and $10,000 and may also be awarded in the form of in-kind contributions. Please note, requests may be accepted at a different monetary level than what was submitted.
Exclusions
The Oakland A’s Grant Program does not fund the following:
- Non-tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations
- Individuals; this includes GoFundMe or other crowdfunding campaigns, as well as individual or company fundraising efforts (ex. Relay for Life, United Way Campaign, etc.) as we directly support the local chapter of national charities
- Capital and endowment campaigns
- Multi-year pledge requests
- Event sponsorships
- Travel
- Annual fund drives
- Seed or startup funds
- Operational budgets
- Debt reduction
- Academic or medical research
- Partisan political organizations and/or activities
- Scholarships/endowment funds
