The purpose of the Artist Resilience Program is to provide relief funding to Oregon artists who have experienced financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic due to loss of income, loss of opportunity or other unanticipated impacts to their artistic practice. Artist Resilience Program funding is intended to help sustain the artistic practice of professional artists.
Artistic disciplines supported:
- Dance (including choreography)
- Music (composition and music performance)
- Theatre and Performance Art;
- Visual Arts (crafts, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media and new media);
- Design Arts (architecture, fashion, graphic, industrial, interior);
- Folk & Traditional Arts;
- Media Arts (film, audio, video, technology/experimental);
- Literature (creative non-fiction, fiction, play writing and poetry).
Artists from underserved communities, including (but not limited to) rural communities and communities of color, as well as artists with disabilities, are especially encouraged to apply.
Funding Information
Generally, awards will range from $1,000 to $5,000. The Arts Commission determines awards based on peer panel review, number of applications and available grant funds. There are limited resources and not all applicants receive funding.
Eligibility Criteria
The Arts Commission has final determination on eligibility. The Arts Commission may review eligibility at any time and request more information as necessary.
Applicants must submit an individual application. While the Arts Commission acknowledges many artists work collaboratively, awards will be made only to individual artists.
At the time of the application deadline, all applicants must:
- Be 18 years of age or older;
- Have been domiciled in Oregon for at least one year (domicile is a person’s fixed, permanent and principal home for legal purposes);
- Not be enrolled (either part- or full-time) in a creative degree program;
- Have a social security or individual taxpayer identification number;
- Be able to evidence, through appropriate documentation such as a resume, three (3) or more years of active professional participation in one or more of the supported artistic disciplines; and
- Have experienced or anticipate experiencing loss of revenue of $1,000 or more due to COVID-19 related cancellations of exhibitions, performances, rehearsals or other activities with a stipend, events, teaching opportunities, book signings or other professional presentation opportunities from January 1 through December 31, 2021.
