The purpose of all Tourist Development grants is to enhance Gadsden County as a visitor destination by contributing to the development of tourism.
Priority for all tourist development funding will be given to projects that have the greatest potential of bringing visitors to Gadsden County who will stay overnight in hotels, motels, bed & breakfast inns, RV parks and campgrounds as well as components affecting the social and environmental impacts on Gadsden County.
Gadsden County utilizes the tourist development tax (TDT or bed tax) to offer grant opportunities to local organizations in support of special events, festivals, sporting activities, and cultural programming that has demonstrated a history of or have the potential to bring out-of-town visitors to the area and further promote Gadsden County as a tourist destination.
Funding Information
Tourist Development Tax grants will provide funds for up to 50% of the budget for the total costs of an approved event, up to a maximum of $1,000, subject to the funds allocated to the grant program.
Eligibility Criteria
- To qualify for a grant, an organization’s event must occur between October 1, 2022, and September 30, 2023, and must attract overnight visitors who use hotel and motel rooms in Gadsden County. Funding considerations include:
- A preference for events held during traditionally low hotel occupancy periods.
- The number of out-of-town visitors expected.
- The event’s scope and duration.
