Akron Community Foundation defines a capital improvement as a needed renovation or repair of buildings or property and/or the purchase of essential equipment that could impact the organization’s ability to deliver programming to its clients.
Funding Information
- Funding for capital grants in the amount of $300,000 will be provided primarily through Akron Community Foundation’s board discretionary funds.
- These grants will range from $2,500 to $25,000 and are planned to be offered every other year by Akron Community Foundation.
What they Support
Through its quarterly grant cycles, the community foundation supports organizations and programs in Summit County that address a wide range of community needs, including health and human services, arts and culture, civic affairs, and education.
Akron Community Foundation’s capital grants will NOT support:
- Organizations without their 501(c)(3) nonprofit designation
- Sports clubs, leagues, or athletic facilities
- Hospitals or other large health care institutions
- Public or private educational institutions
- Religious organizations for religious purposes
- Projects that serve the entire community, regardless of religious affiliation, are eligible for support.
- Individuals
- Endowment or capital campaigns
- Annual fundraising campaigns or general operating expenses
- Special events
Criteria
Only 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with a physical location in Summit County are eligible to apply.
