Con Alma Health Foundation defines health broadly in the areas of health and human services. The Foundation defines health broadly to include physical, mental, emotional, behavioral, social, oral, environmental, and spiritual health and well-being and has a focus on the needs of the uninsured/underinsured and the medically underserved. It works to advance health equity and reduce health disparities by promoting greater access to health care and improved quality of health care for all – with a special emphasis on people of color and rural and tribal communities.
Priority consideration is given to proposals that demonstrate strong collaborative relationships, have multiple funding sources, a plan for sustainability, and address systemic change rather than direct services. They provide grants to eligible nonprofits who’s work incorporates an equity and social justice lens to ensure that New Mexico’s diverse populations and communities have full access and opportunities to lead healthy lives.
Focus Con Alma Health Foundation (CAHF) provides grants to eligible nonprofits who’s work incorporates an equity and social justice lens to ensure that New Mexico’s diverse populations and communities have full access and opportunities to lead healthy lives.
Types of Funding Opportunities Awards support a wide range of projects, initiatives, and organizations through three types of funding opportunities.
- Project Support: For short-to-medium term efforts focused on health system strategies that address the needs, opportunities, gaps of New Mexico’s diverse communities.
- General Operating/Core Support: For systems change/policy focused organizations seeking funding of their overall mission and operations. Note: not all organizations are eligible for core support.
- Technical Assistance/Capacity Building Support: To address the need for capacity building and technical assistance among New Mexico’s nonprofits and/or nonprofit sector.
Funding information
- Con Alma awards up to $25,000 to nonprofits addressing the health and wellness of the diverse peoples of New Mexico.
- Grant Implementation Period Awards are for a single-year January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023 (12 month implementation period).
Eligibility Criteria
- The purpose of the grant must benefit people living in New Mexico.
- Grants are awarded only to tax-exempt organizations under Section 501(c)(3) Code of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
- Grant opportunity is open to all eligible applicants (based on the guidelines outlined), including current and past grant recipients of Con Alma and Northern New Mexico Health Grants Group.
