This program advances District Attorney Jeff Rosen’s “Bend the Arc” reforms to address racial discrimination, disproportionality, and promote equity within the criminal justice system.
Every year illegal money is seized from gangs, drug traffickers, and criminal organizations who prey on marginalized communities. This program will allow the District Attorney’s Office to use those Asset Forfeiture funds to benefit marginalized communities and prevent future criminality. Monetary grants will be awarded to organizations, individuals, or groups that are successfully addressing racial inequities in Santa Clara County.
Funding Information
- Grant recipients are eligible for awards up to $5,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Grant requests for consideration include programmatic support, events, and causes successfully addressing racial inequities in community.
- Grant funding must benefit marginalized communities in Santa Clara County.
- Grant funding cannot be used retroactively (i.e., the grant must be awarded before the event/project start date).
- DA employees and their immediate families may not apply for funding.
Note: Bend the Arc Grant recipients must complete the necessary tax forms and be registered as vendors in the County of Santa Clara’s financial system to receive the grant funding. Please note that applicants are not required to be a non-profit organization, but they should have a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN). Applicants that do not have a TIN must partner with an organization with a TIN. The TIN organization will act as a fiscal agent to receive the grant funding on the applicant’s behalf.
