These services encompass a wide range of activities to help customers make informed clean energy investment and sustainability decisions. Customers faced with unprecedented new challenges, opportunities and technological change can use the FlexTech Program to pinpoint which clean energy investments are right for them. The Consultant or Service Provider will identify, analyze and prioritize energy efficiency or carbon reduction recommendations. The recommendations are tailored to the customer’s site and business needs. Implementation of these recommendations may lead to lower annual utility costs, reduced operation and maintenance costs, extended equipment life, and increased occupant comfort.
The primary Technical Assistance Service areas available through the Program include:
- Targeted or comprehensive technical analysis including energy studies and/or energy planning
- Feasibility studies for Energy Storage feasibility studies
- Investigation of Clean Heating and Cooling Systems including Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP), Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP), Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF), and Solar Heating and Cooling
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications that display a potential for energy savings, carbon savings, or process improvements, as well as opportunities to consider energy efficiency given known energy use increases, will be considered for eligibility.
- Eligible participants include New York State Commercial, Industrial, and Multifamily facilities that are New York State electricity customers who pay into the System Benefits Charge (SBC) through their electric utility company.
