MassBike was awarded grant funding through the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center’s (MassCEC) new Accelerating Clean Transportation for All (ACT4All) Program to conduct a 2-year program to distribute electric bicycles and track their usage amongst select populations in the City of Worcester.
Donor Name: MassBike
State: Massachusetts
City: Worcester
Type of Grant: Program
Deadline: 06/30/2022
Details:
MassBike will lead a team including the Worcester Chamber of Commerce, community-based organizations, and the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC) to deploy the e-bikes to low-income residents throughout Worcester.
The program will determine approximately one hundred riders in the Worcester area to receive bicycles, train riders through safe cycling and maintenance courses, and coordinate community events to encourage everyday riding.
If selected, you agree to ride the e-bicycle in the Worcester area as often as possible, and to assist this new program, funded by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, designed to offset carbon emissions produced by cars, trucks, and buses. You agree to participate in trainings, provide weekly updates on your use of the e-bike, and join group rides hosted by MassBike and its partners.
Training will begin July 2022 and you must use the bike through Spring 2024. All participants are required to attend three classes to introduce the electric bicycle, provide instruction on safe riding around Worcester, and teach basic daily maintenance needed to keep the bicycle in safe and working condition.
Eligibility Criteria
This program is only for people who live and/or work in the City of Worcester and are 18+ years old.
