The long-term care workforce in Minnesota is experiencing unprecedented worker shortages, at a time when the population continues to age. This situation has created ongoing challenges to ensure that accessible, high-quality long-term care is available to Minnesota seniors and other Minnesota residents who rely on services provided in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities throughout the state. A robust system of long-term and post-acute care is a critical component of the health care system in Minnesota, and staffing shortages in this sector have ripple effects across the entire continuum of care.
