Child Care Health Consultation (CCHC) is a collaborative partnership between a trusted consultant and families, caregivers, and child care providers to promote optimal physical and emotional health, safety, and development of children in their care through tailored consultation, training, and other supports. This Best Starts strategy area defines “child care providers” broadly, as inclusive of family, friend, and neighbor caregivers (FFN) and providers in license-exempt and licensed child care programs.
Funding Information
Approximately $7,900,000 is available through the Best Starts for Kids Child Care Health Consultation to support the work described in this RFP for 2023-2025. Applicants may request $175,000 to $550,000 per year.
Eligibility Criteria
This request is open to nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations, tribes and tribal organizations and public or governmental agencies serving communities in King County. Small nonprofits and community-based organizations are encouraged to submit proposals.
They recognize that child care health consultation is a niche service area that requires expertise in health, working with child care providers, caregivers, and young children, and community-specific approaches. Reflecting that, partnerships and collaborations that leverage multiple agencies’ strengths are encouraged (one lead organization should submit the proposal on the partnership’s behalf).
Eligible applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience serving child care providers
- Demonstrated experience serving the focus community (as defined by applicant) in their primarily language
They invest in a range of CCHC services to be delivered by community-based organizations and agencies across geography, diversity of community, and types of child care so that we can leverage these communities’ strengths to meet the range of needs in the County.
