The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity is to support research to develop a predictive forecasting model that identifies new or reemerging misinformation narratives that are likely to disseminate widely and have a high potential for impact on vaccine confidence.
Donor Name: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – ERA
State: All States
County: All Counties
Type of Grant: Grant
Deadline: 01/06/2023
Size of the Grant: $500,000
Grant Duration: 2 years
Details:
The information from this model will then be used to develop a tool that public health agencies could use to predict misinformation trends in the populations served. Finally, the researchers will evaluate the tool’s predictive capabilities on both future social media misinformation narratives and real-world events.
The approach for successfully completing the requirements of this NOP° includes three phases:
- Phase 1— Develop a predictive model that identifies emerging vaccine misinformation with a high likelihood of spread and/or has a high potential for impact.
- Phase 2— Develop a tool that employs the predictive model that federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial public health agencies can use to prioritize response to emerging vaccine misinformation.
- Phase 3— Pilot and evaluate the tool in collaboration with federal, state, local, tribal, and/or territorial public health agencies.
Target Population
The target populations that will use the results of this research and the developed tool with publicly available data, arc federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial public health agencies working to monitor and mitigate misinformation with the potential to negatively impact vaccine confidence and to increase vaccine uptake.
