This initiative supports their belief that local communities are best positioned to identify their own needs and to lead in the most promising change efforts.
Grants will provide financial support to existing or emergent community-driven initiatives to help accelerate change.
The initiative must directly impact the education of young people living in the United States. The funds can be used for both in- and out-of-school programs and can be used to catalyze emergent ideas or existing initiatives. The initiative must be nonpartisan and educational in nature and will not include any direct or grassroots lobbying activities.

They will award approximately five grants of up to $400,000 each.
Eligibility Criteria
Teams who apply must:
- have an existing or emerging initiative meant to have a specific impact on the educational experiences of young
people in the United States. - show a demonstrated commitment to working with the community to help make decisions about the initiative and to ensuring that their decision-making body reflects the community that is being served
- show a demonstrated commitment to one or more of the leaps listed under Transcend’s Leaps for Equitable,
- have the infrastructure to ensure that their initiative comes to fruition
- be a nonprofit organization, government entity or individual with established fiscal sponsorship
