Puna Strong, now in its third year, continues its steadfast commitment to disaster preparedness and the cultivation of community resilience. Puna Strong provides investment directed towards Puna’s nonprofit organizations, bolstered by invaluable partnerships with Hawai’i Community Foundation (HCF) and the Oak Foundation, this program is poised to extend its positive influence across an additional 18-month duration, extending its impact into 2025.
In addition to access to grant funding, Puna Strong grantee organizations are supported through an Organizational Assessment program to further evaluate their growth and impact, Puna Strong grant recipients can expect to participate in a learning cohort with other grantees, technical assistance workshops, technical training, and site visits.

Grants will generally range from $15,000-$75,000 and will be awarded for an 18-month period.
Criteria
Letters of Interest should include the following information:
- Name of organization, primary contact name, email address and phone number.
- The issue that your project will be addressing, why it is an issue, and your intended impact/change relative to advancing KRRP strategies.
- Describe your project, who will be served, how many will be served, and what activities will be implemented.
- Describe the qualifications of your team to implement this project.
- Describe how you are involved in building connections, networks, and collaborations within the community. Include names of organizations you partner with regularly.
- Identify who from your team will be able to commit to participating in the program including, but not limited to, trainings, coaching, mentoring, and other community of practice activities. (A minimum of two people per organization, one staff and one board member, must commit to participating in these activities.)
- Verify your current 501(c)(3) status.
