Each year, the Solid Waste Program accepts applications for its annual Municipal Solid Waste grant funds to support regional waste minimization efforts in ETCOG’s fourteen (14) county region.
Approximately $93,400 is estimated to be available from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) allocated funds to East Texas’s regional solid waste minimization efforts.
Grant funding requests must support the goals and objectives of the ETCOG Regional Solid Waste Management Plan. The purpose of the Plan is to provide guidelines for current and future solid waste management to local governments in the region.
Eligible project categories are
- Local Enforcement,
- Litter and Illegal Dumping Clean up and Community Collection Events,
- Source Reduction & Recycling,
- Local Solid Waste Management Plans,
- Citizens’ Collection Stations and “Small” Registered Transfer Stations,
- Household Hazardous Waste Management,
- Technical Studies,
- Educational and Training Projects.
Geographical Areas
Applicants must be in the ETCOG 14-county service area, including Anderson, Camp, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Marion, Panola, Rains, Rusk, Smith, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood counties.

Local governments and special districts have the opportunity annually to receive grant funds from the East Texas Council of Governments funded by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)
