With this solicitation, NIJ seeks rigorous, applied evaluative research on: (1) police training; (2) police accountability policies and practices; (3) investigative practices to enhance clearance rates; and (4) police officer health and wellness programs.
Goals
The goal of this program is to build a body of knowledge on policing at the local level to inform the development of policy and practices to improve outcomes for communities and police personnel.

- Anticipated Total Amount to Be Awarded Under This Solicitation: $3,500,000
- Period of Performance Duration (Months): To be determined by the period of performance of awarded applications. Successful applicants will be expected to complete the work proposed within a five-year (60 Months) period of performance.

- For the purposes of this notice of funding opportunity, “state” means any state of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
- For the purposes of this notice of funding opportunity, other units of local government include towns, boroughs, parishes, villages, or other general purpose political subdivisions of a state.
