The accomplishments of arts advocates working in the region are often not widely known or appreciated. In recognizing these individuals publicly, the awards will raise the profile of the arts in their community and throughout the SMAC region.

Requirements
Nominators are responsible for providing the following supporting materials:
- A resume or background information of the nominated individual
- At least two letters of recommendation.
Restrictions
- This award can be received only once in a lifetime.
- The nominated individual must have resided in the SMAC region for at least one year.
- Current SMAC board members are not eligible to be nominated.
- Nominations will not be carried over from year to year. Previous nominees who did not receive the award must be re-nominated.
