Funding is for projects that occur within 6 months following the month the grant recipient is announced.
What Microgrants Funds
The grant can be used for most expenses related to a new in person project that is accessible to the public in Hillsborough County, FL or Pinellas County, FL. Any discipline, any medium.
- Marketing for the event (e.g. design, printing, Facebook boosts, ads, etc.)
- Services (e.g. sound engineer, stage manager, handlers, etc.)
- Rentals (e.g. event/gallery space, equipment, etc.)
- Materials and supplies to create, display, and/or project the artwork.
- Personal artistic or technical production. (No more than 20% of the grant should go to the applicant.)
What Microgrants Does Not Fund
- Market/Festival booths. We recognize that it is important for you to sell your work and we encourage artists to find a venue to have an exhibition instead of being part of a larger commercial market.
- Classes, workshops, and professional development courses (given or taken) are not eligible for funding through this program.
- Retrospective funding (work that has already been completed or started), deficits or loans.
- Any project being created for display, exhibition, or performance for Crab Devil or The Penisularium. (This is due to a conflict on interest.)
- Projects outside of Hillsborough County, FL or Pinellas County, FL. The projects must occur in one of these two counties. However, applicants do not need to reside within Hillsborough or Pinellas counties to receive the grant.
- Projects that haveportions that occur outside Hillsborough County, FL or Pinellas County, FL. However, this does not prevent the project from having a future iteration that travels or happens elsewhere. It means that the Gobioff Foundation funding can only apply to the projects initial presentation in Hillsborough or Pinellas.
- Campaigning and fundraising activity
Special Considerations
Aspects of the project that will be taken into consideration but are not required:
- Low socioeconomic status population is impacted.
- Event or project is accessible to all populations.
- Partnerships and collaboration among artists and with organizations is encouraged
Eligibility Criteria
Each applicant must be an individual (artist or curator); not a group or nonprofit. Artists of any age, experience, or background are eligible to apply. You can only be awarded the grant once in any 12 month period.
Equitable outcomes are extremely important to the Gobioff Foundation. They strongly encourage artists that are LGBTQ+, Black, Asian, Latinx, Indigenous/Native American, or living with disabilities to apply. Additionally, in their effort to achieve equity, the Gobioff Foundation will contact any artists with an application deemed ineligible with an opportunity for them to correct their responses.
