Purpose
- To provide up to $5,000 in support for individual artists to improve their skills or create folk art projects.
- Artists may apply for skills-building activities, including structured courses, workshops, trainings, and unique internship programs that directly relate to folk art.
- Artists may also apply for specialized equipment or contracted services to complete a project or advance their careers in the folk and traditional arts.

Funding Information
Applicants may request up to 75% of project costs, not to exceed $5,000.
Who may apply to this program?
- Any artist, artisan, or crafts person who is:
- 18 years old
- A U.S. citizen
- A legal resident of West Virginia
- Submitted all final reports in conjunction with previous WVCA/WVDACH Arts grants.
What are some examples of eligible expenses?
- Fees associated with an exceptional opportunity for advanced study with a significant master or mentor (outside of a classroom setting and not related to any degree program)
- Travel expenses associated with an imminent, specific professional artistic opportunity, conference, seminar, or workshop
- Tuition or registration fees for conferences, seminars, workshops, and residency programs
- Materials and equipment to complete work for a scheduled gallery exhibition, performance, publication, or unique artistic opportunity that will significantly advance an artist’s career.
