Mini grants give youth an opportunity to develop program ideas, write grant proposals, screen grants submitted by youth groups.
Youth councils, non-profit or private organizations and local governments with ideas for innovative programs for North Carolina teens will soon be able to apply for grants up to $500 through the annual State Youth Council’s Mini Grant program.
The Mini Grant program is open to North Carolina organizations interested in developing or enhancing existing youth projects, specifically targeting high school students grades 9 – 12.

- The State Youth Council will award a total of $6,292.
- Individual grants range from $100 to $500.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for a mini-grant, applicant organizations should:
- Be a youth program located in North Carolina and interested in developing innovative youth programs that are directed by youth.
- Be a local government agency or 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
- Involve youth in project development, implementation, evaluation and writing of grant proposals.
- They invite applications for projects related to youth programs supporting their groups and communities that are affected by social injustice (Systemic Racism, LGBTQ+ Equality, Environmental Justice, Disparities in access to COVID-19 resources, etc.)
- The project funded by the grant should be youth supporting their local community.
