Legacy & Community Attraction grants will be made only to non-profit organizations located in Linn County, Iowa, or with a branch location in Linn County, and whose work and/or event directly benefits Linn County residents.
Funding Information
$50,000 is available for the 2024 Legacy & Community Attraction Fund.
Eligible Projects
The Board of Supervisors makes County Legacy & Community Attraction Fund grant awards in one-year increments.
Applicants may use grant funds only for:
- Events and/or organizations that promote Linn County history and/or culture and/or work to attract both Linn County residents and visitors to the event or organization.
- Expenses not yet incurred.
Preferred applications are requests for programmatic expenses or capital project expenses rather than operating expenses and for events or organizations that:
- Promote Linn County through historical and/or cultural education or a community attraction
- Demonstrate a return-on-investment.
- Do not duplicate current or long-standing events in Linn County.
- Demonstrate a plan to sustain the event or organization beyond one year of Linn County grant funding.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Board of Supervisors will award Linn County Legacy & Community Attraction Fund grants only to organizations located in Linn County, Iowa or with a branch location in Linn County, Iowa, and whose work benefits Linn County residents directly.
- Applicants that have not completed projects funded in whole or in part with a Linn County Legacy & Community Attraction Fund grant or that have not submitted the required Final Report for previously awarded Legacy & Community Attraction Fund grant are not eligible.
Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be evaluated on the criteria listed below which appear in no particular order of importance.
- Demonstrates historical, cultural, or diverse educational opportunities for Linn County residents and visitors.
- Has potential for long-term impact.
- Serves a broad segment of the population.
- Clearly describes event/entity goals.
- Project does not duplicate current economic and/or community development initiatives.
