The Jerrold B. Whitney/ Clayton Pinkerton Fund awards grants to add books to the libraries’ general or special collections. Due to the Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, proposals for e-books are also welcomed. Specifically, funds may be used to purchase works in the following genres: Nonfiction, Biographies, History, Arts, and Humanities. The Fund helps move along the love of books Fund holder had to a new generation.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for consideration, organizations must be invited to apply.
- Criteria for organizations invited to apply were:
- Be considered a 501(c)(3) public charity, 501(c)(3) private operating foundation or be fiscally-sponsored by an organization that meets this requirement.
- Be located in El Dorado, placer, Sacramento, and/or Yolo counties
This grant will accept proposals for programs/projects that:
- specifically serve the Sacramento County community;
- are from organizations that are well-equipped to carry out the projects effectively and the projects are in line with the mission of the organizations; and
- include clear and measurable project objectives and activities
Funds may not be used for any other purposes or genres and may not be used to purchase textbooks or books for specific classes.
