The Foundation’s goals in supporting summer programming are to provide children in Hartford, as well as people of all ages with disabilities across the region, a place to go during the traditional workday in support of working families while school is out of session, and provide Hartford youth with career exposure through counselor-in-training (CIT) programs.
Funding Information
The Hartford Foundation welcomes requests of up to $50,000 for activities implemented during the summer of 2023 and expects to award up to $850,000 in total across all grantees.
Proposal Requirements
- Grants will be considered for programs that can contribute to one or both of the Hartford Foundation’s goals. Applicants should demonstrate cultural humility.
- Preference will be given to organizations that are Black or Latinx led.
Population of Focus
Programming must serve either Hartford youth or people of all ages with disabilities in their 29-town region.
Eligible Types of Programs
Eligible types of programs include summer camperships, enrichment opportunities (programs that host campers form other agencies rather than hosting their own campers), tutorial experiences, or counselor-in-training (CIT) programs.
Eligible Applicants
Applicants must meet the Hartford Foundation basic grantee criteria. Non-501c3 community-based groups may apply using a fiscal sponsor. Applicants must also have at least one summer’s experience running a summer program or the equivalent of at least one year’s experience working with children in Hartford or with people (of any age) with a disability.
