The Strategies to Support Children Exposed to Violence solicitation provides funding for communities to develop coordinated and comprehensive community-based approaches to assist children and their families who are exposed to violence build resilience and preventing future juvenile violence and delinquency. Funding can be used to develop and/or enhance support services for children exposed to violence and to help family-serving organizations better recognize and help families at risk for violence.
For the purposes of this solicitation, the term children exposed to violence” can include, but is not limited to child maltreatment, domestic or intimate partner violence, community violence, school violence, domestic violence, bullying and harassment by peers, and physical assault with or without weapons.
Goals
The overall goal of the program is to build the capacity of families and communities to help children exposed to violence.
Objectives
- Improve family and community responses to children exposed to violence.
- Increase protective factors to prevent juvenile violence, delinquency, and victimization and reduce the impact of exposure to violence on children.
- Help communities to develop, design, and implement prevention and early intervention strategies to support children exposed to violence

- City or township governments, County governments, Independent school districts, Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized), Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments), Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education, Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education, private institutions of higher education, Public and State controlled institutions of higher education, Special district governments, State governments
- For purposes of this solicitation, “state” means any state of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
