The Supplemental Community Grant Program is an open, competitive program through which grants are made to nonprofit organizations residing in and serving the citizens of Rockland County.
A panel of community members review and recommend grant awards to the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors. Grants are made annually for costs that are not normally covered by grants or other funding.
The Supplemental Community Grant Program is intended to fund costs from $1000-$5000 for items that are not covered by other sources. They will be one time grants and may not be used towards general operating expenses. Though not required, administrative costs are preferable.
Examples include:
- Capital Projects
- including repairs and replacements, technology upgrades and equipment/furnishing purchases. If applicable, applications to techsoup.org will required first. This grant is intended to cover the costs in excess or denied from other sources.
- Organizational Development
- for costs related to succession planning, entity mergers, and management systems (financial, HR, technology). These costs need to have a lasting impact on the organization overall. lt is not intended to be for board or staff development. Finance training will be allowed.
Eligibility Criteria

- Organizations must provide proof of the following items:
- Applicants must be tax exempt under code 501C3, 501C4 of the IRS code.
- Applicants need to have at least 3 years of operating existence.
- Organizational budget: Applicants must have an average gross income for the last 2 years between $150,000 and $2,000,000 and be in a good fiscal standing.
