Details:
CDBG funds are awarded to city departments, other public agencies, public and private nonprofit entities, and certain eligible for-profit entities to carry out eligible housing and community development projects within the boundaries of the City of Norfolk.
Projects receiving assistance must serve low- and moderate- income persons (generally defined by HUD as members of a family earning no more than 80% of the area median income).
Activities that benefit low- and moderate- income persons can address this objective by:
- Serving low- and moderate- income areas (LMA)
- Serving low- and moderate- income clientele (LMC)
- Creating jobs for low- and moderate- income persons (LMJ)
- Improving housing for low- and moderate- income households (LMH).
Funding Information
- The award minimum in FY 2024 is $35,000 per program
- The FY 2024 contract period will be July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.
Eligibility Criteria
- This is a competitive process. Award recipients are not guaranteed funding year to year.
- The lead organization applying for the grant must have an IRS designation of 501(c)(3), or be a government or quasi-government agency.
