The Fund is comprised of several funds including the Mendocino County Endowment for Community Health and the Poverty Program. The goal of the Fund is to support health and human services organizations provide programs and services for vulnerable populations including those over age 65; low-income families and youth; low-access residents; individuals with underlying physical, emotional, or intellectual conditions or disabilities; homeless or housing insecure; Native Americans, Latinx, and other communities of color; veterans; undocumented migrants; LGBTQ; and people who are historically subject to disparate access to opportunities.

Criteria:
Proposals may include requests for:
- Client services that assist individuals with basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing, necessary household items, communication, sanitation, health, employment, and education.
- Patient navigation or case management services that assist individuals manage complex needs.
- Program materials that enable staff to provide services or maintain safety such as personal protective equipment and additional cleaning supplies. Additional increases in material costs may also be considered.
- Equipment and technology that will allow the organization to more efficiently deliver services; Software, apps, or website development costs are considered equipment projects. For example, purchasing additional tablets or laptops, program management applications, or equipment required to increase sanitation.
Eligibility Criteria
Through its competitive grant programs, the Community Foundation funds 501(c)(3) and public agencies serving Mendocino County and its residents. Funding may be given to organizations with offices outside of Mendocino County for services or programs for residents of Mendocino County. Most of the Community Foundation’s grant programs have specific eligibility requirements. The Community Foundation does not make grants directly to individuals through its grant programs.
Competitive grants are not awarded for:
- propagandizing, influencing legislation and/or elections, promoting voter registration; for political candidates, political campaigns or organizations engaged in political activities;
- for litigation;
- social or political problems outside of the United States of America;
- federated appeals or to organizations that collect funds for redistribution to other nonprofit groups; or
- religious organizations for religious purposes. Grants do not support programs/projects with religious content or purpose.
